Fuel alcohol

Fuel ethanol produced from the fermentation of sugarcane molasses through controlled industrial processes. Denatured fuel-grade anhydrous ethanol corresponds to anhydrous alcohol to which approximately 2% v/v of gasoline is added, allowing its exclusive use as a biofuel.

In Colombia, this product is part of the gasoline oxygenation program, established under Law 693 of 2001, which promotes the blending of 10% fuel alcohol with 90% gasoline in cities with more than 500,000 inhabitants.

The use of fuel alcohol contributes to improving combustion in internal combustion engines and reducing pollutant emissions compared to the exclusive use of fossil fuels. Ethanol produced from sugarcane can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 74%, generating a lower environmental impact when blended with gasoline.
